Roncole Verdi

Roncole Verdi (Roncal in Parma dialect), formerly Le Roncole, is a small hamlet located a few kilometers away from the city of Busseto, in the province of Parma. The town owes its fame to being the birthplace of the composer Giuseppe Verdi, so much so that the municipal name changed from "Le Roncole" to "Roncole Verdi". Along the provincial road that leads from the hamlet to the nearby town of Soragna, Verdi´s birthplace can be visited while, not far away, there is the church dedicated to San Michele Arcangelo, inside which the organ on which Péppin, as a boy, is preserved he had the opportunity to play his first notes under the guidance of Don Pietro Baistrocchi, the priest who was his first music teacher.
